What is Acupuncture?
Our Pilates Plus Wellness Center Acupuncture uses a unique combination of Japanese-style acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine to promote health and reduce pain. Extremely thin needles are used along specific acupuncture points on the body to achieve specific goals.
What can Acupuncture do for me?
Acupuncture can help increase life balance, promote wellness, and reduce chronic pain and tension.
What can I expect during an Acupuncture session?
Before your first appointment, you will need to complete an acupuncture health history form. At your first session, your acupuncturist will discuss your primary health issue, lifestyle factors, and health problems. After your interview, the acupuncturist will advise on a recommended course of treatment, and then begin the therapy. She will insert six to 12 sterile (one-use only) needles at specific points to address your health concern. There will be only a slight pricking sensation when the needles are inserted; after insertion, you should feel no pain.
Payment options
More and more insurance companies are including acupuncture treatments in their policies. Consult your insurer about your coverage. Some plans that do not normally cover acupuncture will pay for treatments if a physician recommends them. Full payment is required at the time of treatment. If you have coverage, the necessary paperwork will be filled out for your reimbursement. Usually, there is a two week turnaround on repayment. In addition, Flex Spending Dollars can be used towards both acupuncture treatments and herbal formulas.
What is Aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy is the holistic, therapeutic use of essential oils to facilitate a physical, mental, and even emotional, healing process.
What can Aromatherapy do for me?
Aromatherapy can be used for any imbalance or discomfort that may occur physically, emotionally, and mentally. People with some of the following conditions have found relief and balance through aromatherapy: Stress, Headaches, Menopausal symptoms, Sinus problems, Emotional instability, Life changes, Insomnia, PMS, Low energy levels, Inability to concentrate, Muscle aches and pains.
What can I expect during an Aromatherapy session?
Your first session will begin with a through consultation that includes an assessment of your symptoms and complaints, environment, current health status and history. Please bring a completed aromatherapy intake form with you to your first session. Then, you and your aromatherapist will choose the essential oil(s) and application method that will best fit your therapeutic needs. A skin patch test will be performed to check for allergic reaction before the blending of any oils. You will then review the instructions on how and when to apply the oils for maximum impact. Written directions will also be provided. Your initial consultation can take up to 1.5 hours, and follow-up consultations are usually 1 hour long.
Ancient philosophy teaches us that our chakras are wheels that form symbolic energy centers at main points of the body. The seven major chakras each relate to a specific color, organ, gland or part of the body. Imbalances or blockages in these chakras can be caused by physical or emotional strains.
What can I expect during a Chakra Balancing session?
In your chakra balancing session, our practitioner will do basic energy testing and balance the seven major chakras. You will leave feeling refreshed, restored and energized. This service is provided in our therapy room. You will rest comfortably on our massage table for most of the session, warm and relaxed.
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a holistic acupressure technique that works with the energy flow of the body to promote natural self-healing. It is non-invasive and may be used as a complementary therapy in conjunction with conventional health care. Reflexology reflects the theory of Asian medicine in that it sees the mind, body, and spirit as a whole.
What can Reflexology do for me?
Applying pressure to specific areas and stimulating the nerve endings in the feet encourages the flow of Chi, relieves stress and tension, boosts the immune system, provides pain relief, aids sleep, reduces blood pressure, and improves digestion and elimination.
What can I expect during a Reflexology session?
While every reflexology session has similarities, each will be tailored to your specific needs, beginning with a discussion of your health history and your current concerns. The session will take place in a dimly lit room while you lie in a zero-gravity chair or massage table. You will enjoy soothing music and light scents as you relax. Reflexology pressure is then applied to your hands and feet. You will likely feel the results immediately; often the benefits can still be felt days later. Prior to your first Reflexology session, we ask that you complete a health screen questionnaire and bring it with you to your first session.
What is Thai Massage?
Thai massage is also called Thai yoga massage, because the therapist uses his or her hands, knees, legs, and feet to move you into a series of yoga-like stretches. Many people say Thai Massage is like doing yoga without any work. Other techniques used during a Thai massage treatment are muscle compression, joint mobilization, and acupressure. Thai massage is both relaxing and energizing at the same time.
What can Thai Massage do for me?
Thai massage can offer you these wellness benefits: relaxation, stress reduction, improved circulation, increased energy, increased flexibility, improved range of motion, centering of the mind and body.
What can I expect during a Thai Massage session?
Thai massage is usually done on a padded mat on the floor and a session typically lasts 60 minutes to two hours. No oil is applied, so you are fully dressed. We only ask you to bring or wear comfortable clothing to the massage.
What is Therapeutic Massage?
By “therapeutic massage,” we mean a massage that is much more than simply a feel-good spa treatment. Pilates Plus Wellness Center’s certified massage therapists are experts at using massage techniques to facilitate healing and relaxation.
What can Therapeutic Massage do for me?
We can address many needs with massage: promote relaxation, reduce stress, increase circulation, relieve chronic pain, or boost your lymphatic flow. Your massage therapist will be able to discuss massage options with you.
What can I expect during a Therapeutic Massage session?
When you begin, your massage therapist will discuss your health concerns and goals for that session (relaxation, ease chronic pain, etc.). Please complete a health screen questionnaire prior to your first visit and bring it with you. You will recline on a massage table, covered by a sheet for modesty. Your therapist will use kneading, pressure, and stretching techniques to relieve tension and boost your physical functioning.
What can I expect during a Four Handed Massage session?
Enjoy the hands of two therapists catering to your needs. It’s like receiving two full body massages at the same time! Unlike a cookie cutter massage, your therapist will create session that responds to your needs. Though the session will flow, it is not choreographed. Your session will be customized and responsive to your needs. Note this is a powerful treatment! Consider booking time in the relaxation room following your session to allow your brain and body to reap the full benefits of such relaxing services.
What can I expect during a Hot Stone Massage session?
Hot stone massage therapy melts away tension, eases muscle stiffness and increases circulation and metabolism. Each session promotes deeper muscle relaxation through the placement of smooth, water-heated stones at key points on the body. Our professional massage therapists also incorporate a customized massage, with the use of hot stones which offers enhanced benefits. The premise behind hot stone massage therapy is that the direct heat of the stones relaxes muscles, allowing the therapist access to their deeper muscle layers. Combining hot stone protocols with a full body massage provides a very healing and effective experience. The hot stones also expand blood vessels, which encourages blood flow throughout the body. The hot stones have a sedative effect that can relieve chronic pain, reduce stress and promote deep relaxation.
What can is Visceral Manipulation (VM)?
Visceral manipulation is a manual therapy that addresses the structural relationships between the viscera, and their fascial or ligamentous attachments to the musculoskeletal system to increase proprioceptive communication within the body, thereby revitalizing a person and relieving symptoms of pain, dysfunction, and poor posture. This program reveals your imbalances and shows you how to correct them through food and lifestyle practices so that you can work with your body rather than against it. This program advocates completely natural/earth-based food so that you can lose weight through cleaning your body of toxins with a plant-based diet with some room for animal products if you need and/or want them in your diet. What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is yet another tool that you can employ to achieve wellness through balance. Hypnosis is not like the dramatized portrayal from television or movies, but rather a mechanism by which you can have greater control over your own thoughts and your body. Hypnosis is “a state of intensified attention and receptiveness, and an increased responsiveness to an idea or to a set of ideas.” Hypnosis allows for a state of heightened openness, receptivity, and focus. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. Our clients use hypnosis as they seek to improve their lives by: Quitting smoking, Stopping overeating, Controlling anxiety.
How hypnosis works
Hypnosis is a natural process that we enter into everyday whether we realize it or not. For example, every time we become engrossed in a novel or a motion picture, we are in a natural hypnotic state. In hypnosis the conscious mind is by-passed and the subconscious mind is accessed.
What to expect in a hypnosis session
The initial session typically lasts between 75 and 90 minutes. During this time, an assessment of the client’s situation and evaluation of the client’s goals will are made. The process of hypnosis is reviewed and the work begins. The session will end with a short debriefing and homework to reinforce the work done in the session. Subsequent sessions are one hour and will focus on the hypnotic state work with a brief check-in and close-out. Although every person is different three sessions are often ideal to address adequately an issue.
Self-Hypnosis
Self-hypnosis is a great tool for creating a healthier you. In these sessions, you will become empowered to apply self-hypnosis in your everyday life. Control anxieties, fears or reduce and eliminate bad habits. You will experience, learn and practice how to apply hypnotic techniques to specific goals of your life. Reach new heights and explore deeper levels of change by connecting the mind and the body.

The key to a healthy body starts with a motivated and focused mind. In these sessions, we will work with you to identify your particular goals. Fundamentals of Pilates and Yoga
So perfect for beginners! This Free class reviews the essential Pilates and yoga fundamentals that are the basis for all the classes we teach. Although this class is not a mandatory prerequisite for yoga, we believe you will benefit from taking this class before enrolling in a multi-week yoga class. Each class is 30 minutes.
Flow Yoga
Go with the flow! In this class, we emphasize flowing from one pose to another (rather than holding postures for an extended time). This class is taught at a basic level so that beginners can succeed, but all levels are welcome. Each class is 60 minutes and includes relaxation.
Gentle Yoga
Take this well-rounded yoga class and enjoy incorporating the ancient insights of yoga into wellness for today. Each class focuses on yoga as a vehicle for deep relaxation, body awareness, overall wellness, and healing. We offer modifications to accommodate all fitness and skill levels. Class is 60 minutes long and includes relaxation.
Yoga Basics Plus Core
Enjoy gentle postures and creative movement to restore your body’s natural balance. Attention will be given to common tension patterns in the shoulders and hips through breath-linked movement, dynamic and static stretching. This class is great for beginners and seasoned practitioners. All levels are welcome to explore their individual range of motion and ability.
Yogilates
Enjoy the best of both worlds - this class is an invigorating mix of basic Pilates mat exercises and beginner yoga poses. Perfect for students who wish to explore both disciplines! Each class begins and ends with 10 minutes of stretching and relaxation. Prerequisites: Completion of a beginner level mat class (required) and a private lesson (suggested, but not mandatory).
Christian Yoga
Connect to yourself and to God through this Christ-centered yoga class. We share Biblical scriptures on themes such as peace and trust to help you exercise the body while meditating on God’s Holy Word. You will be able to allow HIS words to enter your heart and transform your life. This class is taught at a mixed level: basic yoga postures, poses, and stretches but some yoga experience is helpful as a prerequisite. All denominations are welcome.
Christian Yogilates
Our popular Yogilates class is now available in a Christ-centered format. You will enjoy an invigorating mix of basic Pilates mat exercises and beginner yoga poses. Pilates Group Circuit Classes
Get ready to experience the entire array of Pilates equipment in this multi-week, 50-minute class you can explore the best Pilates props, including: The “Cadillac”; The Wunda Chair; Arc Barrel; Spine Corrector; Foot Corrector. Class is limited to only Five students.
Group Pilates Mat/Stretch Combo Classes
Enjoy 20 minutes of stretching and 30 minutes of basic Pilates mat work. You will focus on proper cueing and breathing techniques. The Fundamentals of Pilates class is a prerequisite to taking this class.
Group Chair Classes, Beginner and Intermediate Levels
This multi-week session of 50-minute classes uses the Wunda chair (because it “works wonders”) developed by Pilates founder Joseph Pilates himself. We take traditional Pilates fundamentals and mat work and apply them to the Wunda chair to give you heightened resistance and strength training at either a beginner or intermediate range of difficulty. Demand for these classes is high. To maximize student benefits, we only allow five participants per class and require all students to complete the Fundamentals of Pilates course and a multi-week mat class before registering.

Restorative Roulette
The end of your week is a perfect time for restoration! We invite you to come each Friday evening and “take a chance” in this Restorative Roulette class-each week our teachers will offer you a different form of restorative work including, Restorative Yoga, Beginner Qigong, and Yamuna Body Rolling. Be open to the gift of restoration and the gifts of our various teachers. Trade in happy hour or the couch potato pose and join us and invest in your health and wellness.

Mat/Stretch Combo - Mixed levels
Enjoy 20 minutes of stretching and 30 minutes of basic Pilates mat work. You will focus on proper cueing and breathing techniques.The Fundamentals of Pilates class is a prerequisite to taking this class.
Chair/Circuit Combo - Mixed levels
This multi-week session of 50-minute classes offers 6 weeks of Wunda chair training and 6 weeks of circuit training. Offered at either a beginning or intermediate level of difficulty. Demand for these classes is high. To maximize student benefits, we only allow five participants per class and require all students to complete the Fundamentals of Pilates course and a multi-week mat class before registering.
Intermediate Chair/Circuit Combo
This is an exciting opportunity for students who want to explore the challenge of the Pilates equipment, including the Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Arc Barrel, and Spine and Foot Correctors. Class includes footwork and jumpboard on the reformer. Completion of an eight-week Beginner Mat Class is a prerequisite to this class. If class is intermediate, completion of a private lesson package is required. If class is beginner, we strongly the $3/99 special-to prepare for this class! Class is limited to 5 students and is 50 minutes.
Beginner Circuit
This is an exciting opportunity for students who want to explore the challenge of the Pilates equipment, including the Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Arc Barrel, and Spine and Foot Correctors. Class includes footwork and jumpboard on the reformer. Prerequisites are: Completion of an eight-week Beginner Mat Class, YouTube assignment to review the jumpboard and mat routines-students must memorize these routines. We strongly the $3/99 special-to prepare for this class! Class is limited to 8 students and is 45 minutes.

Gentle Yoga
Take this well-rounded yoga class and enjoy incorporating the ancient insights of yoga into wellness for today. Each class focuses on yoga as a vehicle for deep relaxation, body awareness, overall wellness, and healing. We offer modifications to accommodate all fitness and skill levels. Class is 60 minutes long and includes relaxation.
Yoga Basics Plus Core
Enjoy gentle postures and creative movement to restore your body’s natural balance. Attention will be given to common tension patterns in the shoulders and hips through breath-linked movement, dynamic and static stretching. This class is great for beginners and seasoned practitioners. All levels are welcome to explore their individual range of motion and ability.
Flow Yoga
Go with the flow! In this class, we emphasize flowing from one pose to another (rather than holding postures for an extended time). This class is taught at a basic level so that beginners can succeed, but all levels are welcome. Each class is 60 minutes and includes relaxation.

Christian Yogilates
Our popular Yogilates class is now available in a Christ-centered format. You will enjoy an invigorating mix of basic Pilates mat exercises and beginner yoga poses. Each class begins and ends with 10 minutes of stretching and relaxation. Prerequisites: Completion of a beginner level mat class (required) and a private session class (suggested, but not mandatory).
Restorative Roulette
The end of your week is a perfect time for restoration! We invite you to come each Friday evening and "take a chance" in this Restorative Roulette class-each week our teachers will offer you a different form of restorative work including, Restorative Yoga, Beginner Qigong, and Yamuna Body Rolling. Be open to the gift of restoration and the gifts of our various teachers. Trade in happy hour or the couch potato pose and join us and invest in your health and wellness.

Acupuncture Circle with Alisha Juliano
Please join us for a relaxing experience with the Ancient Art of Acupuncture. All are welcome to receive Auricular (or Outer Ear) Acupuncture. We will gather in a group setting. Registration is encouraged but drop in’s are welcomed (the idea is for you to feel free to come as your body/mind needs). In the Chinese medical model, the ear is a hologram of the entire body and organs. Your acupuncturist will place 5 pins to support your vital organs – toning down the sympathetic nervous system and supporting the digestive, parasympathetic nervous system, the heart, the kidneys, the liver, and the lungs. This type of acupuncture is an especially helpful and easy way for unwinding and relaxing, to come to a meditative or inner yin state, to reduce cravings (from smoking, sugar, etc), to help anxiety and sleep. There will be chairs, mats, and bolsters to support a comfortable seated position. We will provide relaxing music and a centering poem will be shared.
